BC Fishing License

Saltwater fishing licences are sold both online and from vendors. We usually recommend people get there licences online if they are from Canada. If you are from the US than I would recommend getting the licence from a vendor in either Port Alberni or Ucluelet. Residents from countries other than Canada are not allowed to keep halibut in our area. This rule was put into place to stop US boats leaving and returning to US ports from fishing in Canadian waters.

The cost of a fishing license is between about $13 to $25 depending on how many days you are fishing. Licenses for people under 16 are free, however you must purchase a salmon stamp if you would like to keep salmon. Please be aware that you must still get the licence even if you are not planning to catch salmon, but will be trying for other fish.
