Fishing Port Alberni, B.C., on Vancouver Island!
Port Alberni is situated at the head of a beautiful inlet with many surrounding mountains. You can check our map for locations.
A large run of Sockeye Salmon enters the Port Alberni Inlet during June and July. In the last week of June and first two weeks of July sockeye fishing is at its best. It is common to hook 15-30 sockeye per morning and an action packed morning will see up to 40 Sockeye hooked!

Another option is fishing Barclay Sound for Chinook (Kings) & Coho, and these run all summer. Fish here in calm water surrounded by beautiful islands and mountains. Fishing trips start at 4:30 a.m. 8-10 hour options are available for Barclay Sound.

The King salmon return in the month of August and bring thrilling action! This season we are expecting the largest run of Chinooks in the last 20 years, so fishing should be phenomenal in August and early September. Large schools return to give every one an opportunity to hook into a big one. People come from miles around to experience the Port Alberni Inlet to enjoy calm water, beautiful scenery and large runs of returning salmon. Maybe this is on reason Port Alberni is called the salmon capital of the world. It is an experience worth knowing.
