Fishing Report Ucluelet BC Canada August 15

The inshore fishing for Chinook salmon at Wya Pt. has really turned on recently, with solid numbers of high-teen and 20+lb fish around, and we are also seeing some great halibut action anchoring at places like Southbank. Offshore, there has been very productive Coho fishing trolling spoons and hootchies, but most of the abundance of larger Chinook seems to be showing up closer to shore.

Our guides have been successful using small spoons between 30’-40’ right “on the rocks” at Wya Pt. as well as needlefish patterned hootchies fished close to the bottom. Anchovies have been productive at times, but the abundance of needlefish in the area means “matching the hatch” might be the best bet.

Inshore bottom-fishing opportunities are still producing lingcod and rockfish in certain areas, with jigged swim-baits and large herring patterned jigs snagging some impressive fish!

You can check out Ucluelet-Info.com or get one of our fishing packages available at https://www.salmoneye.net/site/fishing-packages.html. We have very little ocean view accommodation but still have some cabins available.
