Halibut limits 2023 Ucluelet BC - Vancouver Island

Anglers will be able to possess two (2) halibut, under 90cm, or one (1) one halibut, between 90cm and 133cm. The daily limit is one (1) halibut. It is illegal to retain halibut over 133cm, and there is no minimum size limit in place for recreationally caught halibut. There is an annual limit of 10 halibut in BC, and anglers are reminded that until March 31st, 2023, the 2022 annual limit is still in effect.

This opening is great news for anglers across the BC coast and Ucluelet.

Fishing Report Sept 12, 2022 Ucluelet - Vancouver Island, BC

It is close the the end of season for us but fishing continues to be strong. We have been getting some great catches of halibut and coho at Big Bank and also there are still some Chinook coming through in close to the rocks. Halibut limits have increased to 2 per day which saves us a trip offshore on our multi-day trips- a win for the planet and our pockets with the high fuel costs.

Chinook (King) fishing in close to shore remains hot and the bites are happening all throughout the day. Chinook, Coho, Halibut and Lingcod fishing are all strong.

Fishng Report August 15 2022 Ucluelet BC - Vancouver Island

Fishing has been stellar through the first part of the Stamp River run coming through Ucluelet and this continues to be a hotspot on Vancouver Island. Normally there is a dropoff late July in close to shore and all the fishing happens offshore. This year there was no drop off in fishing close to shore and it just continued into August except with bigger numbers of Chinook.
