Fishing Report August 12, 2026 Ucluelet BC

Chinook Salmon 

The Somass  River Chinook are here and today was the best so far. Most boats were limited on Chinook early and going for halibut afterwards. The Chinook are in many places trhough, not just along the shoreline. 
Long Beach, Outside Light, Inside Light, Big Bank, Cree, Effingham and Wya have all been producing fish. Some days are faster than others but there seem to be lots of Chinook around as per usual in August. 

Halibut 

Halibut fishing has been very good the past few days with halibut biting in many different locations including some within 10 miles of shore.
Big Bank is also producing lots of halibut though anchoring in the right spots will produce larger ones.
There are lots of sChinook and Coho almon on Big Bank as well though you have to weed through the small ones. 
Mackeral are also present here. 

Coho Salmon

There are coho inside Barkley Sound where you can keep 1 wild and 1 hatchery.
There are also lots of coho at Big Bank and on days at Long Beach. Coho are in close to shore as well, though some days are much hotter than others.
