Fishing Report Ucluelet BC August 19, 2023 - Vancouver Island

Fishing continues to be great in many places as the 150K plus more Chinook come through Ucluelet waters.  Great Bear, Beg Island, The Lighthouse, Little Beach, Wya, Barkley Sound, Inside South Bank, Lighthouse Bank and Southwest Corner had all had good bites this past week for both Chinook and Coho. There are also Chinook at Big Bank though most people aren’t headed there when larger Chinook are available in closer to shore.

Anchovies, White hutchies and small Silver Horde #3 spoons, Gibbs Wee G have been good in close to shore.

Coho have been at Beg, Great Bear, Allie Rock, Chrow Island in decent numbers though are moving around day to day so its just a matter of finding where they are.

Halibut continue to be all over though we expect some of the spots in closer to shore to start drying up though up to this point that hasn’t happened like expected during August. Salmon bellies, grubs, and herring have all been working well.

Check out the Ucluelet fishing reports archive  for fishing reports from 2008 on.

If you are reading this and thinking about fishing in 2024 it would be good to book now as we fill up the majority of the schedule a long ways in advance. There are a few different fishing guides to choose from in Ucluelet and Salmon Eye will continue as the only one on the coast with the 50lbs a day guarantee. We want you to be impressed with our fishing guides and boats.
